The Europeans certainly know how to entice potential customers
with store fronts like these.

Cheese, fresh fruits and veggies, breads
and cakes, oh dear.... just after wandering about
and admiring them I felt guilty.

Throughout the day we followed the marathon
runners around the city.  Dave, JelleyLegs himself,
finished in 2:58. Well done JelleyLegs!!

It was a beautiful day for a marathon, or just a walk in the city,
or for Dave, both :)

Notre Dame Cathedral
It took nearly 200 years to build this
magnificent cathedral.

The grandeur of it is a bit overwhelming

Another spectacular piece of
the grand puzzle making Paris so pleasing to the eye.

We took the train back to Ripon from Scotland
and the following evening made our way
down to London. We spent a night in London
but our train to Paris was bright and
early so after a few hours of sleep we
hopped another train and a couple hours later...

I was swept into the turmoil of city life, in the most beautiful
city I've ever seen.

Everywhere you look in Paris is a
potential photograph.

The art, the sounds, and the smells overtake your senses

And you may find yourself lost after wandering aimlessly
down little side streets in a sensory overload.

Beautiful Edinburgh, Scotland
We had a great few days visiting more of Callum's
family in this picturesque city.

A view of the castle from Princes Street Garden

Another view of the castle from our walk up Arthurs Seat, the
very large hill (actually an extinct volcano) that towers over
the city giving amazing views.

Tourists ;)

On one of outings we stopped into visit potter
Sophie Hamilton
Her studio/workshop is located in the village
of High Marishes in North Yorkshire.

As well as using the wheel she also uses another technique
I had never seen before. She called it Jigger jollying :)
The Jigger is a mechanized arm that brings a template down onto a
centered ball of clay that is spinning on a wheel mounted mold. (The first photo)
The above photo is the jolley part of the equation. The Jolley is
very similar to the jigger the only difference is the clay is molded
inside of a mold rather than on top of one.
Unfortunately I didn't get to see her use this wild machinery
but it was great to see something new.

She was sweet enough to show us around her studio.
The above photo is her gas kiln and the
shelves along their rails for easy moving.

Her work was covered with vibrant flowers
and beautiful blues and purples.

I was lucky enough to get my little hands on a beautiful
piece glazed with the gold, blue and teal circles.
Thank you for the visit Sophie!
Feel free to check out her website at

About 2 hours from Studley Roger on the east coast is
the town of Scarborough.
The castle overlooking the town
dates back to the 11th century (a bit over 900 years ago).

The coast was beautiful, the sun was shining, and the winds were
blowing.

We had a nice walk along the beach as well as lunch with
a great bunch of family friends.
Tomorrow we are off to Edinburgh, Scotland for a few
days. :)

 York, England
This wall, built in the 13th century (800 years ago),  surrounds the entire city.
Its purpose, to protect the city from potential invaders.

The cathedral was stunning and the small cobble stone
streets were so sweet to wander along.

We made it!!! Welcome to Jelley legs :)
Rose Cottage
Studley Roger,
Ripon, England

There are some strange driving habits around
England.. I don't really understand what this line in
the road means

Pay phones still exist!

It's been dusting snow since we arrived

But it hasn't stopped us from getting out
into the countryside. Dave, jelley legs himself has been
a great guide

The moors, the dales, and even a bit of sunshine. I'm really enjoying
the narrow streets and stone buildings as well as the great
company.
Plans to visit a local potter, Easter weekend, and Scotland
next week! Stay tuned for more updates xx

Since arriving in Canada it has been non-stop travel.  One
of our last adventures brought us to Spences Bridge. I was fortunate
enough to get to tag along while the guys searched
for some adrenaline pumping lines to ride

The views were unreal but make sure you
watch where you walk.
The rattle snakes want to bask in
the sunshine just as much as you do

Thank you Callum Jelley, Mason Mashon, and Mark Mathews
for the introduction on what it takes
to be a badass
